Study Materials for Visually Impaired

Study Materials for Visually Impaired

Helping the Visually impaired by giving them access to educational materials is one of our prime agenda. We started producing Braille materials since 2015 and since then we are catering to the needs of visually impaired through Braille materials. Apart from Braille books, we are now focused to help them in more adaptable format. Through the initiative Disha For you we are trying to help the visually impaired with audio lectures and other related content.

Study Materials for Visually Impaired

In this fast-moving world and improved technologies the scope for visually impaired is still limited. The study materials in Braille and other accessible formats need to be enhanced to make their resource more widely available. Keeping this in mind we released a Braille Magazine on 30th June 2015 with the name “ Connecting the Dots” edited by Aveek Baruah at Guwahati Press Club. Since then we engaged ourselves deeply in producing adequate study materials for them. On the occasion of Children Day in the year 2017, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Shrijut Sarbananda Sonowal in presence of Member Secretary of SLAC Shri Lakhya Knowar inaugurated a Braille Book “ An Approach to Competitive Examinations in Braille”. This was marking point but we didn’t stop and in the following year, we started producing Braille materials in our own Braille embosser donated by Mahila Mangal. But Braille Materials is not enough so on the occasion of World Braille Day, 2019 we started Audio Lecture Series for the Visually Impaired. Now Disha For You Youtube platform is being used to deliver the lectures and all kinds of materials necessary for the upliftment of the visually impaired.
