Modernization and Development of Potter Industry

Modernization and Development of Potter Industry

Pottery, a dying industry of Assam with immense potential to accommodate more than the traditional potters. We surveyed the project with Laxmi Education Foundation and implementing it with FICCI FLO. Our ties with the latter have shown good results in villages like Hathiana (changsari) and Ganeshkuwori(Sipajar). The use of motorized chucks and pug mill is the key behind the success. The success model at Hathiana could be implemented in other areas of Assam too.

Hathiana & Banmaja

The project in Hathiana started initially with the training program at Banmaja village, Barka in the year 2019. This training program was part of an NGO named Laxmi Education Foundation and soon after the training program where all the nearby villages participated, we selected a new nearby village Hathiana for further work. We started working in Hathiana and for that, we collaborated with FICCI FLO. The latter provided with all assistance to the potters and distributed motorized chucks and pug mill among the potters. Now, this is one of our successful projects where we potters are getting economically empowered.

Ganeshkuwori, Sipajar

This is one of our recent projects through which we are trying to empower the potters of Darrang District. This is also a project we are doing with FICCI FLO.
